Membership & Baptism

Scripture describes the church as God’s household, where we belong to one another as members of His family (Eph. 2:19). As the body of Christ, we are deeply loved by Christ (Eph. 5:25–27) and, in response to His love, called to love and serve one another (1 Pet. 4:8–11). Church membership is a commitment to be built together as “living stones,” growing in faith, serving one another, and worshiping Christ together (1 Pet. 2:4–5).

Membership class
Taking the Membership Class is the first step toward becoming a church member. Together, we’ll explore the foundations of the Christian faith, learn about our church’s beliefs and vision, and become familiar with our denomination. It’s an opportunity to discover who we are, what we believe, and what it means to follow Christ together as His church.

Complete Application
After completing the Membership Class, you will receive a membership application. If you are married, you and your spouse should each complete a separate application. Once we receive your application, a pastor or elder will contact you to schedule a membership interview.

當您決定加入北維州華人基督教會 (CCCVA) 成為會員時，請通知您原先所屬的教會。若您是從其他美國長老會 (PCA) 教會轉會而來，仍需完成上述四個會員入會步驟。
根據本教會的章程，北維州華人基督教會不接受雙重會籍。換言之，您不能同時保有北維州華人基督教會與其他任何教會的會員資格，即使另一間教會同樣隸屬於 PCA。
You should notify your previous church when you decide you would like to become a member at Chinese Christian Church of Virginia (CCCVA). If you are coming from another Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) church, you must go through all four steps listed above.
Under our bylaws, Chinese Christian Church of Virginia does not allow dual membership—that is, membership of both CCCVA and any other church at the same time, even if that church is a PCA church.

Adult baptism
If you have never been baptized before and would like to be, you will need to complete the membership process first (see above). Be sure to discuss your desire to be baptized at your membership interview. This will allow you to be scheduled for baptism on the day you take your membership vows.
Infant and child baptism
Infants
- Chinese Christian Church of Virginia will baptize infants of church members.
- Contact the church secretary. Please indicate your child’s full name and date of birth.
Older children
- Chinese Christian Church of Virginia will baptize your older child after he or she has made a made a profession of faith. Once a year, Chinese Christian Church of Virginia offers a Communicants Class. Contact our church secretary for more information about the Communicants Class.

五至八年級兒童的會員入會程序
在北維州華人基督教會，凡家中有五年級或以上兒童的家庭，都歡迎參加每年舉辦一次的領餐預備課程（Communicants Class）。
教導（Instruction) : 學生將參加為期 6 週的課程，透過課堂討論以及與父母一同學習，認識教會會員誓約和基督信仰的根基。
回應（Response) : 學生、成年導師和父母將一同禱告並分辨孩子是否已預備好，能真誠地在眾人面前公開宣認自己的信仰。
宣認（Declaration) : 學生在作出與成人相同的五項會員誓約後，我們將接納這些已受洗並公開宣認信仰的孩子成為教會的正式領餐會員，使他們可以領受聖餐、與其他教會會員一同服事，並繼續在信仰中成長。

Membership Process for Children in 5th – 8th Grade
At Chinese Christian Church of Virginia, families with children in the 5th grade and above are invited to participate in the Communicants Class, offered once a year.
Instruction – Students participate in 6 weeks of discussion and exploration of the membership vows and foundations of the faith, both in class and with their parents.
Response – Students, adult mentors and parents prayerfully discern a child’s readiness to make a sincere, heartfelt public profession of faith.
Declaration – Upon taking the same five membership vows as adults, we welcome these baptized communicants as full members of the church body, enabling them to participate in communion, serve alongside other church members, and further grow in their faith.
